London fire: 60 firefighters called to huge blaze in Newham

Eight fire engines and around 60 firefighters have been called to a fire at a waste disposal centre in Newham. The fire is reported to have taken place on Dock Road in Silvertown.

London Fire and Rescue responded to the incident at 11:43PM and is still at the scene.

Fire crews from Poplar, Plaistow, Millwall, Stratford. East Ham, Shadwell and East Greenwich fire stations are in attendance.

The cause of the fire is not known at this stage.

London Fire and Rescue have reported around 100 tonnes of mixed commercial waste is alight.
