Following Prime Minister Boris Johnson’s address to the nation on Sunday evening, the Government has published a 50-page document describing plans for moving to the next phase of its response to the coronavirus crisis. The guidance for the next phase comes seven weeks after Mr Johnson ordered the UK into a nation-wide lockdown on March 23. The document, published on Monday, May 11 describes “the progress the UK has made to date in tackling the coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak”.

Plans for how the UK will move to the next phase of its response to the deadly virus are also included.

The description of the document reads: “The strategy sets out a cautious roadmap to easing existing measures in a safe and measured way, subject to successfully controlling the virus and being able to monitor and react to its spread.

“The roadmap will be kept constantly under review as the epidemic, and the world’s understanding of it, develops.”
