US Weekly ‘Royally Us’ royal commentator Christina Garibaldi suggested Prince Harry and Meghan Markle may have already had the christening of Lilibet Diana Mountbatten-Windsor as she noted there have not been any recent images of Meghan. The Sussexes, who toned down son Archie’s christening and limited what information was released, were reportedly asking to christen Lilibet at Windsor so the Queen could meet her. But Ms Garibaldi rejected the story, stating Meghan would likely not want to return to the UK, and suggested she may have already had the ceremony.

Speaking on the Royally Us podcast, Ms Garibaldi said she does not expect Meghan to return to the UK “any time soon” before predicting any christening plans are likely to be kept private and away from the public.

She said: “I don’t think Meghan is really going to be heading over there any time soon, I think they’re going to keep everything pretty private.

“Who knows, they may have even done the christening because we haven’t seen any photos or Meghan at all.”

Sunday Times Royal Editor Roya Nikkhah has also thrown shade on the claims Harry and Meghan will christen Lilibet soon.

She was quoted as saying: “I think given Harry and Meghan decided that they want their life to be in America and Lilibet was born in America – I’m not sure she will be baptised quite yet, she’s very little.”

Royal commentator Richard Fitzwilliams told Express.co.uk, “Harry and Meghan’s relations with the British press went badly downhill when Archie was christened in private and the names of the godparents were not released.”

“The Sussexes were emphatic that they intended to do things their own way and so it has proved. It must be likely that she will be christened in California though there are rumours of a possible christening at Windsor.”

According to The Sun, a palace source revealed Prince Harry and Meghan might return to the UK to baptise Lilibet at Windsor Castle to allow the Queen and other family members to meet her.

Prince Harry: Levin discusses christening plans for Lilibet

While nothing has been made official yet, not even the date, the news has apparently left those working for the royals shocked.

The source said: “Harry and Meghan have made this offer, but a lot of people are shocked by the sheer nerve of it. They may genuinely want to see the Queen but it’s breathtaking given what they’ve put her through this year.

“Her Majesty’s staff have not responded so far. In fact, there has also been discussion about Christmas — and whether an invitation should be sent to Harry and Meghan after they spurned one last year.”

Speaking to The Daily Mail, another royal source said: “Harry told several people that they want to have Lili christened in Windsor, just like her brother. They are happy to wait until circumstances allow.”

In 2019, Prince Harry and Meghan departed from precedent and chose to have a quieter and more private ceremony for Archie’s christening.

The public was not allowed to attend, only a few photographers were allowed in and details and pictures could only be released under the Sussexes’ approval.

The decision was a stark difference to the Cambridges’ christenings which tend to be much grander affairs.

Christenings are also widely considered to be a chance for the public to get a glimpse of a new royal child either in person or through photos of the event.

Prince Harry and Meghan left the Royal Family to lead their own lives in America and to retake some of their privacy.
