Lifelong Labour voter ‘sick’ of MPs says grandad would ‘turn in grave’ as he backs Boris

Dean from Scarborough called into Mike Graham’s talkRADIO show to speak about the upcoming December 12 election. Dean admitted that he was disappointed with the state of British politics, especially after Nigel Farage backed down. Mr Farage announced that his Brexit Party candidates will not stand in 317 Tory seats, in an apparent deal with the Conservative Party.

Mr Graham gave an analysis on a reason why this choice may have been made: “The two-party system makes it really really hard for a third party to get anywhere.

“So I think he realised that even if he did stand 600 plus candidates in every single seat, one, it would be a very expensive waste of time.

“But, two, it might actually stop Brexit from happening because he would get in the way of the Tories winning enough seats.”

Dean replied that he “totally agreed”.

He told the talkRADIO host: “I’m not sure what I’m allowed to say to get you lot into trouble now.

“What I want to say is, when I was growing up as a child, my grandad was Labour.

“This is back in Wales in the 80s when I was growing up.

“My grandad always told me ‘always vote Labour, son, always vote Labour’.”

The Welshman continued: “Now he’d be turning in his grave, God rest his soul, with the way everything is going on.

“I’m going to have to vote for Boris.”

Dean told Mr Graham it wasn’t necessarily because he wanted Brexit more than anything else, but because he wanted it “ended now”.

He said: “I’m happy with Mr Johnson’s deal because I’m just sick of what’s happened in the last three or four years. I just want it ended now.

“I want things like the floods in Doncaster being addressed.

“My child’s school, he has to finish at 10 past 12 on a Friday because they don’t want to teach up here anymore in North Yorkshire.

“I want things like that being discussed in Parliament.

“Let’s get rid of the Brexit issue, let’s get it done and dusted and let’s get back to the proper stuff that needs addressing.”
