Lawless London fears as boy stabbed hours after girl killed on way to school

Croydon stabbing: Police statement after death of teenage schoolgirl

A teenage boy was stabbed in south London just hours after a 15-year-old girl was killed on her way to school.

The 13-year-old was on Smallwood Road in the Earlsfield and Tooting area at 3.30pm yesterday (September 27) when he was stabbed.

The boy’s injuries are non-life threatening or life-changing and the assault is being investigated by the Metropolitan Police.

Hours earlier, 15-year-old girl Eliyanna Andam was stabbed in the neck on her way to school at 9am in the morning.

Her pal reportedly screamed ‘is my friend dead?’ after the horrific knife attack left the private school pupil dead as ambulances and police officers rushed to the scene.

She had reportedly refused to take flowers from a boy on the bus before the attack.

Eliyanna was stabbed outside the Whitgift shopping centre and died at the scene.

Despite her family rushing to the scene, they arrived too late to say goodbye and are “heartbroken”.

It comes as 16 London teens were murdered in just nine month as grim figures surpass the city’s 2022 total.

Tragic Eliyanna became the 16th teen to be murdered, just one week after a 19-year-old was killed in a south London park and pronounced dead at the scene.

She has been described as a “much loved” and “absolutely incredible” teenager with a “bright future”

A 17-year-old boy known to her has since been arrested in connection with the stabbing.

Sadiq Khan, the Mayor of London, said: “The death of a 15-year-old girl in Croydon yesterday is utterly heartbreaking.

“I visited Croydon Police station to meet with police officers and community leaders at this unimaginably difficult time. My thoughts and prayers go out to this young girl’s family and friends.”

Mayor of Croydon Jason Perry added: “I am devastated to hear that the teenage girl who was stabbed in the town centre this morning has tragically died.

“The Council are in touch with the police and will fully support their investigations. Our whole community’s thoughts are with the victim’s family and friends.”
