Based in Newburgh, less than 10 miles from Wigan, the family-run Post Office has gained a high reputation for selling freshly-made bread, flowers and an in-built coffee shop. Visitors can enjoy reading a book and sipping their favourite hot beverage at the outdoor seating area after collecting or sending their packages.

But the hospitality doesn’t stop there, if you are after a unique present for a special someone, passers-by can have a hand-picked gift boxes created filled with chocolates, alcohol and homeware.

The Post Office has been described as ‘extremely welcoming’ by 2Chill user Gemma J – who rated the five stars.

She said: “Newburgh Post Office Store and Coffee Shop is a lovely little spot to grab freshly ground coffee, delicious homemade cake and fresh bread.

“The small independent business is very popular with passing cyclists and people in the village. Owners Gaynor, Denis and their family are extremely welcoming and also run the post office.”

Anyone who is making a visit through Newburgh this summer, make sure to grab a limited ‘affogato’, an iced coffee made using Frederick’s Ice Cream topped with a shot of Allpress Espresso.

Gemma added: “They offer a well-stocked shop with anything you might need including fresh groceries, flowers, cards, candles and gifts including their own curated gift boxes. Well worth a visit if you’re passing through!”

Make sure to make room to try one of their fresh pastries and cakes, all made by local, independent businesses like All You Kneed Bakery and Cakesmiths.
