Lady Louise Windsor, 17, is Prince Edward and Sophie, Countess of Wessex’s eldest child and while she has spent most of her life away from the public eye, her role as a royal is starting to change. Something that marked this shift was her recent appearance in the BBC documentary Prince Philip: The Royal Family Remembers, where Lady Louise paid tribute to her late grandfather, who died in April at the age of 99.
While several members of the Royal Family starred in it, it was Louise’s first television interview – making it a special moment.
Louise was praised for how confidently she spoke about her fond memories of Prince Philip and her debut lead to speculation about the teenager’s possible future within the Firm.
Royal commentator and film critic Richard Fitzwilliams told Express.co.uk the young royal may now be lined up to attend public engagements and take care of some of Philip’s former responsibilities.
One such responsibility could be to look after some of the younger royals, including the Cambridge kids, whom it is known she gets on well with.
Last summer, while spending time with her grandmother, the Queen, and other royals at Balmoral Castle, Lady Louise was reported to have taken on the role of helper to support her cousin Prince William and Kate to entertain their three children.
The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge make a visit to the Queen’s Scottish residence with their offspring every year.
Having Louise on hand to play with George, Charlotte and Louis made a big difference to their holiday.
Louise, who will be turning 18 in November, could play an important role at the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee next year.
With event organisers saying that the pageant will be the “largest-ever put on”, the celebration of the Queen’s 70 years on the throne could do with the help of a reliable member of the younger part of the Royal Family.

There is a great bond between the Queen and Louise, who received her AS-level results last summer and is expected to complete her A-level qualification next year.
Having spent much time together at the Balmoral, it would not be surprising if the monarch assigned her granddaughter with a task for the event.
With a predicted global audience of one billion people, the capable hands of Louise, who is said to be very mature for her age, could be good to ensure that even the youngest within the Royal Family enjoy the much-awaited Jubilee celebration.
Her decisions as to what duties to focus on could have a significant impact on her royal trajectory.
When she soon turns 18, Louise, who is sixteenth in line for the throne, will have to decide whether or not she’d like to be styled as Her Royal Highness Princess Louise.
On her birthday, on November 8, Louise’s intentions as a royal could become clearer – and cement her role at the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee.
