Labour’s Mann calls on ‘loser’ Corbyn to stand down immediately – ‘Do great service to UK’

The Labour MP claimed his party would have more chances of winning a general election if Jeremy Corbyn stood down as leader immediately. Mr Mann – former chair of pro-Brexit group Labour Leave – claimed the Labour leader is “content on destroying the party” to create a Marxist revolution in Parliament. Asked by LBC’s Andrew Pierce whether the Labour Party should be ahead in the polls, Mr Mann said: “No, of course it shouldn’t be and there’s only one reason – Jeremy Corbyn.

“So if he was to stand down, he’d be doing the Labour Party and the country a great service, so I would call him to stand down today.”

He added: “Him and the henchmen around him seem more content on destroying the Labour Party in order to get their Marxist allies in as candidates and as MPs to create some kind of revolutionary base inside Parliament.

“So, that’s what’s going on at the moment with them stitching up local selections to stop good local people.”

Andrew Pierce pointed out: “You say if he went it would transform Labour’s poll position but wouldn’t that depend on who they replaced Jeremy Corbyn with?”

The Labour MP replied: “Well, it couldn’t get worse but I think the likelihood is there would be an improvement.”

He added: “Anyone who knocks on doors, asking voters what they think about the world, you raise the issue of Jeremy Corbyn and you watch the blood drain out of their faces or build up in anger. He is a loser in people’s eyes and they’re not going to vote for him.”

It comes after reports Labour MPs are so concerned about the prospect of a general election they are aiming to force the leader to resign.

According to The Sun, they argue that the resurgent Tories would wipe out Mr Corbyn’s party as discussions around a December vote continue.

The Mail On Sunday also reported that MPs also want to ditch Mr Corbyn’s plans to keep the party on the far left.

It claimed that the angry MPs have created its own WhatsApp group in which ways to dislodge the leader are discussed.

It’s called ‘Clause One’, which is reported to be a reference to Labour’s constitution.

The move comes as MP Neil Coyle told Mr Corbyn there “may never be a Labour Prime Minister again”.

He said: “If you give Johnson the election he wants, it’s not just you that will not be Prime Minister.

“If Johnson decides to get a no deal Brexit and then Scotland leaves the UK, we may never have a Labour Prime Minister again.”

The move comes after Mr Corbyn was accused of being outflanked by the Lib Dems and SNP over a potential election.

On Sunday, the Labour leader said the party would not back an election unless a no deal Brexit was “completely off the table”.

He rejected a Lib Dem and Sottish National Party plan to force an election on December 9 provided the EU back a Brexit extension until January 9.

Number 10 sources indicated it would consider the Lib Dem and SNP proposal as an option.

With the pressure mounting to agree to a December election, Mr Corbyn appears to becoming increasingly isolated.
