Mr Bryant urged people to not listen to the ‘fake rumours’ and conspiracies. He ridiculed people claiming coronavirus came from 5G masts when there are not even any in Rhondda, Wales. Rhondda Cynon Taf’s positive test rate is 610 cases per 100,000.
The total number of deaths from COVID-19 in Wales is 1,267.
The latest figures show there are 409 coronavirus cases per 100,000 population in Wales, which is substantially more than the 262 in England.
Chris Bryant, the Labour MP for the area, said: “Rhondda is the worst in the country. We are the worst, worst, worst.”
Taking to a video on Facebook to urge his constituents to stick to the lockdown, he said: “COVID-19 is real, it kills, it does not discriminate, families and friends have lost loved ones.
“I have been told by one chap he didn’t need to abide by the social-distancing rules because he knows for an absolute certain fact that he contracted coronavirus last summer and he knows lots of people who contracted coronavirus in November and December last year and therefore they are immune as well.”
“It is completely and utterly untrue and dangerous.”
“Someone must know the truth of how long this was spreading before we were told,” posted one constituent, who claimed she had contracted the virus in October after “becoming quite ill”.

Some people commented under Mr Bryant’s video to say they are adamant they had the virus earlier on.
Marsha Lewis said: “Sorry Christ but my two sons were all earlier this year and I am sure they both had it.
“It wasn’t published early enough or it wasn’t out into lockdown soon enough.”
Christine Lansdown said: “This was around long before any one knew …. oct nov dec were lethal months for chest infections and breathing problems”.
Mr Bryant said: “Let’s stick to the science, the common sense approach.”

“This coronavirus outbreak is in no way a conspiracy!
“I have read many independent scientific journal articles and press reports regarding the virus outbreak and they show how very real Covid-19 actually is.”
