Kittens die after being ‘thrown from moving car’ with another two ‘missing’

Two kittens have died, and another two are feared missing after they were “thrown from a car” in Hull.

The RSPCA said the two black-and-white kittens were found on the side of the road on Stanhope Street, Goole, and taken to a vet’s practice.

But the male cat had suffered a “serious head injury”, of which he later died, and the female sustained a severe injury to her left hind leg.

An X-ray found bone fractures, possible ligament damage and displacement that left her in “a great deal of pain” and she was put to sleep.

Vets were later told by a witness that the cats were two of four thrown from a car on the busy street.

Investigators were left “extremely concerned” by the incident and have launched an appeal for information.

RSPCA inspector Natalie Hill said the organisation is “very worried” about the welfare of the missing kittens.

She told HullLive: “We’re extremely concerned by the circumstances surrounding the death of these two kittens, and we’d appeal to those members of the public who went to the vets, as well as motorists who may have dashcam footage and pedestrians who were in the area at the time, to get in touch if they get help us progress this inquiry.

“A further two kittens were also said to have been thrown from the vehicle.”

“They’ve not been found, and we’re very worried about their welfare as well as that of their mother.”

The two kittens were found separately by passersby in Hull, about 45 minutes apart on the road.

They were discovered in the afternoon on Friday, July 7, before they were taken to the vet.

The male kitten is thought to be between eight and 10 weeks old, with no information given for the female.

The RSPCA is actively campaigning to end animal cruelty following hundreds of complaints regarding cats in East Riding.
