King makes sweet nod to his grandchildren as he puts Scobie scandal behind him
King Charles has made a sweet nod to his five grandchildren as he addressed COP28 calling for swift and effective action to tackle the climate crisis.
He said: “In 2050 our grandchildren won’t be asking what we said, they will be living with the consequences of what we did or didn’t do.”
The King has three grandchildren, Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis, from his son Prince William and wife Princess Kate.
His younger son Prince Harry and wife Meghan Markle also have two children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, who now live in Montecito, California.
During his address in Dubai His Majesty warned those gathered that the current environmental situation “worries me greatly”, adding that we may need to prepare for a “darker and starker future”.

Charles stated: “I have spent a large proportion of my life trying to warn of the existential threats facing us over global warming, climate change and biodiversity loss.
“Some important progress has been made, but it worries me greatly that we remain so dreadfully far off track as the Global Stocktake report demonstrates so graphically.”
He informed delegates from around the world that the “dangers are no longer risks” and “we are seeing alarming tipping points being reached”.

The King added: “Records are now being broken so often that we are perhaps becoming immune to what they are really telling us”, as he shared his fears that the planet is heading into “dangerous, unchartered territory”.
He continued: “As we work towards a zero-carbon future, we must work equally towards being Nature-positive. With what we are witnessing, our choice now is a starker – and darker – one: how dangerous are we actually prepared to make our world?”
Charles has been campaigning for action on climate change for many decades, before he ever became King, and his passions have now been passed down to his heir William.
