Debate over whether Harry and Meghan Markle will attend the Coronation in May has been raging since the publication of Spare last month.

The memoir, which has become a best-selling work of non-fiction, is filled with allegations against several senior members of the Royal Family including allegations he [Harry] was assaulted by Prince William and that Queen Consort Camilla leaked stories to the media about him.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex conducted a number of interviews on their life inside the Royal Family and what is expected to come next.

Speaking on whether he will be present at his father’s Coronation, the Duke said it was down to the Royal Family.

In an interview with ITV’s Tom Bradby, Harry said: “The ball is in their court.”

Recent reports suggest the Archbishop of Canterbury, Justin Welby, has been asked to act as an intermediary between the King and the Prince to negotiate a peace agreement.

According to MailOnline sources, the King believes that the absence of Harry and Meghan would create a greater distraction than their presence.

As a result, the King is reportedly prepared to make compromises so they will attend, including prominent seats during the ceremony.

While Harry’s position within the Coronation will rise, there are questions about whether his popularity outside will do the same.

Following the publication of Spare, polls suggested he has fallen out of favour with the British public.

A poll from Ipsos Mori found that half of respondents held an unfavourable view of the Prince, a massive fall from the 70 percent who approved of him before the Duke and Duchess and Sussex began to move away from the Royal Family.

The same poll found that two thirds of participants held a positive view of Prince William and Princess Kate.

While still more popular than his younger brother, other polls suggest Prince William’s popularity has also fallen following the publication of Spare.

Whether these figures, and Harry’s attendance at the big day in May, will change between now and the Coronation is yet to be seen.
