King Charles gives royal seal of approval to school children who sent him pants
King Charles has personally thanked a class of primary school students for their “colourful art project” following his Coronation in May.
Pupils from Trinity C of E Primary Academy School in Oswestry sent the King white pants they had decorated by colouring them in bold colours and patterns to celebrate his Coronation.
And the monarch sent a letter this week saying he was “deeply touched” by their gesture.
The letter said: “The King has asked me to thank you for your very kind letter, and for the colourful art project that you so generously sent in celebration of Their Majesties’ Coronation.
“The King was deeply touched that you should have taken the trouble to write and would have me convey his warmest good wishes to all of the pupils and staff at Holy Trinity C of E Primary Academy & Nursery.

“I am to thank you once again for your thoughtful gesture at this time of celebration.”
Teacher Cheryl Meddins said the class were inspired by the hilarious book The King’s Pants by Nicholas Allan, who wrote an updated version of his previous tale, The Queen’s Knickers.
She said the project materialised as a fun way to celebrate the royal moment but when the school received the letter from Buckingham Palace, the children were “so excited”.
Mrs Meddin said: “The children were so excited, jumping up and down when we received the letter, to be honest, we all were!”

She said it all started when the class “received” a parcel containing white pants and a letter explaining that the monarch only has white pants left, “but he had lots of events coming up and he needed more colourful pants to match, just like in The King’s Pants book.”
The teacher added: “We sent them over to Buckingham Palace after the Coronation and when months passed we sort of forgot about it. Then boom we received the letter just last week.
“Maybe we’ll have to do something similar for the King’s upcoming 75th Birthday.”
