King Charles and Camilla defended as row erupts over ‘stale and stiff’ royals
Adam Hills reveals he turned down invitation from King Charles
The Royal Family have been defended on social media after a picture of King Charles, Queen Camilla and Princess Anne at the Braemar Gathering was picked apart and compared with one of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle watching Beyoncé perform in Los Angeles.
Barrister Dr Charlotte Proudman wrote on X, formerly Twitter, that the royals looked “stale and stiff” in comparison to the Sussexes, who were “diverse and cool” by comparison.
She posted: “Two photographs of the Royal Family. Pale, stale, stiff, boring, out of touch — versus — diverse, cool, fun, Beyoncé loving. I know which event I’d rather be at and it isn’t the kilt wearing kind.”
However former academic Maka’ala Jordan leapt to the Firm’s defence, as she posted a reply explaining the different contexts of the events and how this led to their different behaviours.
She wrote: “With due respect, ma’am, the royals are there to enjoy the yearly celebratory games of a small in Scotland. There are many photos showing their appreciation and enjoyment.”

She added: “The photo you posted is likely at the opening ceremony where they are standing while being honoured. At the beginning.
“The OTHER photo shows the entourage of the Sussexes at a mega-rock star’s concert. They are supposedly there to enjoy themselves without any formal role or representation. The two events have nothing in common.”
In the picture of the royals taken at this year’s Highland Games at Braemar, held on Saturday September 2, Charles and Camilla, accompanied by the Princess Royal and Vice Admiral Sir Timothy Laurence are pictured dressed in tartan standing and looking serious.

However, other photos show them seated, smiling and laughing and looking as if they are thoroughly enjoying themselves.
Meanwhile Harry and Meghan were joined by Meghan’s mother Doria Ragland as they took in Beyoncé’s Renaissance tour at the SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, a suburb of Los Angeles.
Although Harry stood looking glum, Meghan and Doria were seen dancing and waving their arms around as they enjoyed some of the singer’s biggest hits.
Close friend Abigail Spencer was with them in a private box as they danced to ‘Diva’, while Harry embraced his wife for the love songs ‘1+1’ and ‘Love On Top’.
The family honoured Beyoncé’s request to wear silver for the show, with the Duchess of Sussex wearing a silver sequinned pencil skirt while her mother donned a silver satin blouse, and Harry also tried his best to match the colour scheme in a light grey blazer.
The Sussexes are known to be fans of the singer, and have met her and husband Jay-Z at the London premiere of The Lion King in 2019.
