Kieron Dyer: Former England star in hospital weeks after withdrawing from Celebrity SAS: Who Dares Wins

Former England midfielder Kieron Dyer is undergoing tests in hospital just weeks after withdrawing from the Channel 4 show Celebrity SAS: Who Dares Wins.

Dyer, who played for Newcastle and West Ham, is currently working as Ipswich Under-23s manager.

The club confirmed the news in a statement posted to its website and said it would not be commenting further.

It said: “The club can confirm that Town U23 manager Kieron Dyer is currently undertaking tests in hospital.

“Everyone at Ipswich Town Football Club sends their best wishes to Kieron at this time.

“We ask everyone to respect Kieron’s privacy, and we will be making no further comment on the matter.”

The 42-year-old featured in this year’s series of Celebrity SAS: Who Dares Wins, but was forced to leave the show after he suffered a collapsed lung.

Before leaving the programme on the 19 September episode, he spoke of having been sexually abused by a family member as a child.

Dyer started his career at Ipswich and spent eight years with Newcastle, before signing with West Ham.

He was in England’s 2002 World Cup squad and has starred in the ITV series I’m a Celebrity Get Me Out of Here.
