Kelly Mary Fauvrelle: Ex-partner accepts responsibility for pregnant woman’s killing

The ex-partner of a heavily pregnant woman has accepted responsibility for her killing, a court has heard.

Kelly Mary Fauvrelle, 26, was eight months pregnant when she was stabbed to death in her own home in Thornton Heath, south London, on 29 June.

The Old Bailey, in central London, was told at a brief hearing that Aaron McKenzie, 25, accepted responsibility for killing the Royal Mail worker and psychiatric issues were being explored.

McKenzie, of Peckham, south London, is charged with the murder of Ms Fauvrelle as well as the manslaughter of her baby Riley, who was delivered at the scene but died in hospital four days later.

The defendant, who was remanded into custody by a judge, is also charged with possession of an offensive weapon.

Ms Fauvrelle’s whole family, including her mother, two brothers, sister and her sister’s baby son, were all in the house on 29 June.

They were alerted by the sound of Ms Fauvrelle’s screams at about 3.30am.

McKenzie wore a black tracksuit in the dock at Wednesday’s hearing and spoke only to confirm his age and British nationality.

A plea hearing has been set for 2 October with a provisional trial start date of 2 December at the Old Bailey.
