Kate Middleton helps young girl with teddy tribute

On Thursday, Princess Kate arrived, alongside Prince William, at the late monarch’s Norfolk residence to speak to crowds and look at the sea of tributes left for the nations’s late Queen Elizabeth II. The visit came exactly one week after the Queen’s passing at Balmoral, Scotland. As the couple made their way along the crowds, video footage was captured of a sweet moment between Kate and an eight-year-old girl waiting in the crowd.

Kate spotted Elizabeth Sulkovska, 8, carrying a bouquet of flowers and a Corgi toy whilst standing in the crowd of mourners at Sandringham.

The 40-year-old then walked the delighted young girl over to the sea of tributes to place the flowers and Corgi toy among them.

The eight-year-old later recalled: “I went with her to put the flowers and the corgi down.

“She said, “Where do you think we should lay the flowers?” and I said “We should put them there”.’

Headteacher Geogory Hill said: “Elizabeth was overjoyed.

“She cried with joy at being chosen.

“It’s just a wonderful, amazing opportunity.”

Mr Hill also spoke on how the Queen’s death has “touched a young generation”.

He said that despite the younger generation having not “experienced the Queen for long on the throne”, they are “still greatly moved by her passing”.

Another mourner in Norfolk named Jo spoke to the Princess and asked how Kate’s three children are coping since the death of their great-grandmother.

Jo’s mother Lynne, speaking to the BBC, said: “Kate thanked her and said they were doing well and they are being looked after at school.”

Speaking of the couple’s three children, it was reported that Kate told another mourner at Sandringham that her eldest son, George, understood that the Queen has died, but that seven-year-old Charlotte and four-year-old Louis understood “less so”.

The outing marked the couple’s first solo appearance as the new Prince and Princess of Wales.

The title was passed to Prince William from his father, now known as King Charles III, after the Queen “peacefully” died one week ago at age 96.

William’s late mother Diana, who passed away in 1997, was previously known as the Princess of Wales.
