Kate’s mum Carole Middleton is a ‘power behind the throne’ with ‘immense’ influence

Kate and Prince William are set to be subjected to an even higher pressure than before now that Prince Harry and Meghan are stepping down as senior members of the Royal Family. And, one royal author claimed, there is one influential figure the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge will likely approach in the future when in need of support – Kate’s mother Carole.

Royal author Phil Dampier told Fabulous Digital: “Carole is a very strong woman who comes from quite a humble background, and the fact that she has worked herself up with a successful business has given her a backbone of steel.

“Kate turns to her for advice and comfort all the time and she spends a lot of time with William and Kate’s three children.

“Now that Harry and Meghan have in effect left the Royal Family, there is a lot more pressure on William and Kate.

“Carole will be a stabilising and supportive force in the background, looking after the kids when needs be but also just being there for them.

“Carole is very much a power behind the throne and her influence is immense.”

Meghan and Harry announced on January 8 their desire to step back as senior royals, with the intention to continue to carry out royal engagements on behalf of the Queen while living a freer life abroad.

However, after 10 days of negotiations between the Sussexes, senior aides and the Queen, Buckingham Palace announced the terms of Meghan and Harry’s exit from the Royal Family.

And they were harsher than what asked by the Sussexes, as Meghan and Harry were given the freedom to live abroad, pursue private ventures and become financially independent in exchange of relinquishing their HRH styles and stepping back from royal engagements.

Meghan and Harry’s exit as working royals, officially coming into effort this spring, will likely see more engagements and work falling on the shoulders of Kate and William, who are set to become Princess and Prince of Wales once Prince Charles ascends to the throne.

The support of Kate’s parents will be vital at such a difficult time, Mr Dampier argued.

He said: “There will be stressful times ahead and Kate and William will need the support of Carole and Michael more than ever.”

According to the royal expert, Carole hasn’t just been a loving mother to Kate and doting grandmother to Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis.

Mr Dampier claimed that Carole and Prince William grew closer with the passing of the years.

Both Carole and her husband Michael, Mr Dampier added, have “provided a middle class down to earth haven for him”, and “help to keep William grounded”.

This is not the first time a royal expert claims Prince William has a very close relationship with the Middletons.

NBC’s royal correspondent Ashley Pearson said William “fell in love with the Middleton family” just as much as he was stunned by his future wife.

Appearing on NBC documentary William and Harry: Brothers In Arms, Ms Pearson said: “Talking to a royal insider several years ago, she told me one of the reasons William fell in love with Kate Middleton from the very beginning was because of her family and her close relationship with her siblings and parents.”

Kate and William met at the University of St Andrews in 2001 and began dating two years later.

After a break-up which lasted for a few months in 2007, the pair rekindled their relationship and eventually married in 2011.
