The Duchess of Cambridge’s new hairstyle has been fascinating royal fans, who are trying to work out how she gets it done under lockdown. Recently, Kate and Prince William took part in a Zoom video call to commemorate VE Day. Royally Obsessed podcast hosts Roberta Fiorito and Rachel Bowie revealed why this was a big departure for the Duchess.

Ms Fiorito said: “Her hairstyle has been changing a lot. I thought the go-to quarantine hairstyle of the royals was half-up, half-down, but Kate proved me wrong.

“She is doing this really loose un-coiffed wave with her hair.

“It’s definitely a new hairstyle for her. It looks like she almost curled it and then brushed it out.

“Or maybe she gave herself a blowout, I’m not sure, but it looks great.”

Ms Bowie added: “I think she’s going all of this herself. She doesn’t have a hair and makeup team coming in.

“It definitely is different from her normal looks.

“It looks a little bit more relaxed, which I think is definitely her doing it herself.

“It looks incredible, she is nailing it every time.”

The commentators also spoke about the Duchess’ fashion choices in her virtual engagements.

They pointed out that Kate has been wearing a “rainbow palette” of coloured dresses.

On the VE day Zoom call, the royal wore a “bright” red dress by L.K. Bennett.

Ms Fiorito told listeners: “Red, of course, is the colour of the UK so I thought that was very patriotic of her.

“She’s been wearing yellows, organges, blues, greens, like every kind of colour.”

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge spoke with residents of a care home in East Sussex on their Zoom chat.

It’s not the first time that Kate has worn this particular dress.

The Duchess attended Wimbledon’s 2015 event in the same frock.
