Kate’s emotional and personal insight into royal struggles shows Duchess ‘is just like us’
The Duchess of Cambridge shocked the world when she gave a bare-all podcast interview to Happy Mum Happy Baby host Giovanna Fletcher on Saturday. Kate explained her thoughts and feelings on the difficulties of being a mother and the anxiousness and self-doubt all mothers can feel after having children. She also delved into the topic of “mum guilt” – the feeling of uncertainty and worry of falling short of expectations in some way as a parent.
Royal commentator Victoria Arbiter emphasised the significance of Kate doing the podcast while on the show Weekend Express with Susan Hendricks.
Ms Hendricks opened by saying: “I am so happy that Kate was able to open up about this.
“So many mums feel guilty about talking about mum guilt.”
Ms Arbiter replied: “This is probably the most intimate and personal interview we have ever had with a senior royal such as Kate.

“She spoke really openly and I think the way she presented herself was so accessible and relatable.
“So mums around the world can look at Kate and say you have all of this help and you still feel guilty, so it is okay that I feel guilty.”
Ms Arbiter continued to praise the Duchess of Cambridge for her demeanour during the Happy Mum Happy Baby podcast.
She closed by saying: “Listening to this podcast, it was like chiming in and listening to two friends have a really personal conversation about being a mum over a cup of coffee.
“You came away from it thinking Kate is a member of the Royal Family and a future Queen but actually she is just like us too.”
During the podcast, Kate also explained she would like to write a letter to her younger self, when she became pregnant with her first child Prince George, to explain all that she has learnt about motherhood.
