Royal commentator Catherine Mayer reflected on Kate’s journey to becoming Queen alongside King William. During ITV’S documentary, Kate: The Making of a Modern Queen, she highlighted some of Kate, Duchess of Cambridge’s best qualities. She added these qualities differed vastly from Prince William’s mother Princess Diana.

She emphasised that Kate’s calm confidence would make her well fitted for her role as Queen consort.

Ms Mayer said: “One of the very first things I noticed about Kate was the way in which she is not like Princess Diana, the mother-in-law- she never met.

“I think that will actually help her a lot.

“It will help her both in her non-role as Queen in waiting and eventually as Queen.”

Ms Nicholl said: “There are two roles to a future Queen.

“One is to produce heirs, which she has done and one is to learn to one day become Queen.

“That is very much what we are seeing, we are seeing a Queen in waiting.

“We are seeing the Duchess take on more duties, more royal engagements, more of a public profile than ever before.

“She is taking on patronages from the Queen and from the Duke of Edinburgh.”

The Royal expert emphasised the importance of this and what the overall plan for Kate appears to be.

She said: “This is all very deliberate and a part of the palace machine bringing her from the shadows of Anmer into the spotlight.

“This is because they are very clever and realise the power of Kate.
