Tennis lover Kate took to Twitter to express her sheer joy after 18-year-old Raducanu made history by gaining a place in the US Open final. In a personal message, Kate said: “What an incredible achievement at this year’s #USOpen @EmmaRaducanu!
“We will all be rooting for you tomorrow. Wishing you the best of luck!”
The Duchess of Cambridge signed off her message with her initial ‘C’, to clearly state she was the person behind the tweet.
Kate’s message of support to Raducanu in the run-up to tomorrow’s final was particularly appreciated by many royal and tennis fans.
One commented the royal’s tweet, shared via the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge’s Twitter account, saying: “So lovely to see Catherine, The DoC, supporting Emma.
“I remember she was rooting for her in Wimbledon as well.
“What an amazing match! She’s making the nation proud. Congrats! And the best of luck for the final.”
Another tweeted: “That ‘C’ at the end. One letter just made my day. I am thrilled.”
This isn’t Kate’s first public message of support for Raducanu.
In July, as Wimbledon was taking place, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge’s Twitter account tweeted: “Unbiased prediction to win it: @andy_murray and @EmmaRaducanu #Wimbledon.”
The 18-year-old was forced to drop out of the tournament due to medical reasons – but showed appreciation for the support coming from Kensington Palace.
The tennis star responded to Kate and William’s tweet saying: “Ah not quite this time but thank you so much for the encouragement!”
Raducanu’s tweet received a like from the royals’ official account.
