The Royal Family is facing a “hellish 2022” as a number of potentially damaging events are set to occur, which will leave Kate and William to pick up the pieces. Events that are due to take place include the publication of Harry’s memoirs, the 25th anniversary of Princess Diana’s death, the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee, as well as the release of the film Spencer and Season 5 of the Crown. As a result, royal expert Daniela Elsa said: “The Cambridges are staring down the barrel of a very rocky 12-months that will expose old and have the entire Royal Family bracing themselves for another global PR crisis.”

Princess Diana’s marital breakdown with husband Prince Charles will be heavily played out in the film Spencer and Season 5 of the Crown, which could cause further heartache for her son’s William and Harry.

The Hollywood film, featuring Kristen Stewart as Diana, will follow the events of three days at Sandringham in 1992 and highlight the cracks in her relationship with Charles.

Their tumultuous relationship will also be heavily played out in Season 5 of The Crown, culminating in Diana’s tragic death in 1997.

As a result, royal expert Daniela Elser says this season could be “the most wrenching and hurtful for William (and yes, Prince Harry too) yet.”

She said the two brothers have “to watch as that dismal chapter is morbidly resuscitated for our viewing pleasure”.

As a result, the journalist said Kate will have an important role to play in supporting her husband through the fallout, which she warns could spark another “global PR crisis” for the Firm.

Writing in the New Zealand Herald, she said: “For Kate that means having to watch her husband suffer through seeing some of the most traumatic parts of his childhood dredged up and picked over like carrion.”

Ms Elser also said the TV dramas could tarnish the image of the monarchy, portraying it as “rigid, even callous, monolith that has caused so much suffering”.

As a result, Kate could be left to pick up the pieces once more.

She said: “Kate is now staring down the prospect of having to sit idly by while the institution that she has dedicated her life to is dragged brutally over the coals and faces a fresh round of public condemnation.”

Next year will also mark the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee, as the monarch celebrates her milestone moment.

All eyes will be on the Royal Family as a four-day Bank Holiday weekend filled with pomp and pageantry to mark the occasion.

Meghan and Harry are likely to be invited to the special event, which could see the spotlight taken off the Queen as people focus on how the Sussexes interact with the rest of the Royal Family.

The Duke of Sussex’s memoir is also set to be released next year, which experts warn could tarnish the reputation of senior royals, especially Prince William.

Royal biographer Ingrid Seward said Harry’s brother will come out “the worst of all” as the pair’s row is likely to feature in it.

Speaking to GB News, Ms Seward said: “William is the one who will come out of this the worst of all.

“There is the row between William and Harry, and basically if Harry says things that are inappropriate about the monarchy, that is William’s future.

“It is not Harry’s future, he is out of it now, but it is William’s future.

“Of course, everyone forgets poor old Prince Charles, who has remained very very quiet about all of this.”
