Kate, Princess of Wales, will attend the Rugby World Cup Quarter Final match on Saturday, as England’s squad faces off against Papua New Guinea. The Princess of Wales, 41, was appointed patron of the Rugby Football League in February this year.

She took up the role that had been previously carried out by Prince Harry, who lost several positions as patron after the Duke and Duchess of Sussex stepped back from royal life.

Kate will join fans cheering on the teams on Saturday, November 5 from 2.30pm at the DW Stadium in Wigan.

Earlier this month, the Princess of Wales wished the competing England teams luck in their upcoming matches.

The recently-appointed patron described feeling “honoured” to take up the position in support of England’s sportspeople.

She described this year’s Rugby League World Cup as “the most inclusive” to be held so far, with the experience heightened for England’s teams by competing in the UK.

She said: “To the England Rugby League teams, I wanted to wish you the very best of luck with your respective World Cup tournaments.

“I was so honoured to become Patron of the RFL earlier this year, not least because I know what an important moment this is for Rugby League.

“The ability to take part in any World Cup tournament is incredible, but to be able to do so on your home turf, hosting teams from around the world and showcasing everything that this fantastic sport has to offer is truly special.

“I am also very proud that this will be the most inclusive Rugby League World Cup to date, with the men’s, women’s and wheelchair tournaments running alongside each other for the first time. We’re in for an amazing few weeks of rugby and I look forward to cheering you on all the way!”
