Kate spent 48 hours secretly working with children at NHS hospital in London
Kate is said to have recently completed a two-day work experience at an NHS hospital in London to learn more about its work. The Duchess of Cambridge is believed to have undertaken this secret work experience also to acquire enough background knowledge for her Early Years project, a charitable venture Kate has been working on in the past weeks. With this project, Kate wants to highlight how what we experience between birth and the first five years of life can affect us as adults.
Details on Early Years were shared in October by the royals, when on the website of the Cambridges’ charity foundation, The Royal Foundation, appeared a new section bearing the name of the project.
Alongside a stunning picture of Kate and a toddler, the page shows a brief description of what the project will be.
The webpage read: “The first few years of childhood are more pivotal for development, future health and happiness, than any other single moment of our lifetime.
“With greater focus on the early years, The Duchess of Cambridge believes we can better provide solid social and emotional platforms for children to make them healthier and more resilient later in life.
“Her Royal Highness and The Royal Foundation have brought academics, practitioners and charities together to form a steering group to develop a significant new body of work that will ultimately support all efforts to provide children with the best possible start in life.
“This has been a major body of work and will be unveiled later this year.
“Stemming originally from her work on issues like addiction and family breakdown, The Duchess of Cambridge has observed that so many of society’s greatest social and health challenges, and the inter-generational cycle of disadvantage, could be mitigated or entirely avoided by providing the right support for children in the earliest years in life.”
More details of this venture are expected to be released later this year.
The Duchess of Cambridge, who has shown on multiple occasion a natural affinity with children, had already expressed her desire to work on the issue of early childhood years and their impact on adulthood in 2018.
DON’T MISS
And in July, Kate mentioned again her Early Years project in a long message shared on Kensington Royal’s Instagram account.
The post read: “The Duchess of Cambridge hosted a picnic for her patronages in the Back to Nature Garden at #RHSHampton.
“As part of her longstanding work on Early Years, The Duchess believes that spending time outdoors plays a pivotal role in children’s future health and happiness.
“Her garden highlights how time spent in natural environments can help build the foundations for positive physical and mental wellbeing that last through childhood and over a lifetime.”
Kate has often spoken of the benefits a healthy lifestyle and spending time outside can have on children and adults.
Appearing on CBBC flagship show Blue Peter, the Duchess of Cambridge revealing she takes her three children outside every day, “come rain or shine” to boost their mental health.
Kate said: “Rain or shine, they’re dragged outside. It’s great.
“It encourages creativity, confidence and even a short amount of time – 10 or 15 minutes – makes a huge difference to physical wellbeing but also to our mental wellbeing.”
