Kate shares skill with late Queen that she ‘unusually’ displayed in public
Eurovision: Kate Middleton plays piano in show teaser
Princess Kate may be known for her sporty nature but she also is a big fan of another hobby, which was also loved by the late Queen Elizabeth II.
The Princess of Wales is very much into playing the piano, as seen when she made a surprise appearance in the opening segment of this year’s Eurovision show with an ensemble rendition of Kalush Orchestra’s Stefania, which won the contest last year.
Kate performed alongside Lord Andrew Lloyd Webber, last year’s runner-up Sam Ryder and Joss Stone, among other familiar faces.
An expert has said that the princess playing the piano in support of Ukraine was “really unusual” as normally the Royal Family would do similar things in private.
King Charles’s former rotal butler, Grant Harrold, added that this shows how the Firm is changing and slowly starting to become “a modern family”.

Speaking on behalf of Spin Genie, he claimed: “I didn’t even know that Kate played piano. What’s interesting is that the late Queen also played piano. Piano playing is something that the royals do in private, behind closed doors.
“It was quite surprising to see Kate playing the piano at Eurovision. It was really unusual. I think it shows you that the royals are changing and becoming a modern family.”
The expert stressed that the Royal Family should show people that they are “like you and me” and added:
“It’s important to get to see the human side of them, it’s really important.”

Harrold also talked about the Prince and Princess of Wales’s love of tennis.
He said: “I knew [Kate] and William loved tennis because they used to play tennis quite a lot.
“I’d be driving down the road and used to see them playing tennis at one of the local clubs, where there’s tennis courts. They’re keen tennis lovers, that’s a definite.
“The piano thing was something that I was unaware of. It doesn’t surprise me because going to private school, these are the kind of things that they would learn.”
