Kate reveals Princess Charlotte’s favourite vegetable – and it WON’T surprise you

Kate revealed her family grow their own vegetables in an allotment in the gardens at Kensington Palace during a relaxed chat with food expert Mary Berry. This has helped the little Cambridges become fond of vegetables, with the Duchess confessing her two youngest children love them.

Six-year-old Charlotte, in particular, enjoys eating a variety of potatoes she shares her name with.

Speaking to the former judge of the Great British Bake Off (GBBO), Kate said: “We grow our own vegetables.

“We’ve got carrots, beans, beetroots – massive favourite, Louis absolutely loves beetroot.

“Charlotte obviously likes her Charlotte potatoes.”

During the one-hour-long programme, both Prince William and Kate shared quite a few cute details about their three children, George, Charlotte and Louis.

While chatting with Ms Berry, the Duchess of Cambridge spoke about how important she thinks it is for children to do some physical activities and spend time outside, as it boosts their mental and physical wellbeing.

Ms Berry then asked whether Kate has ever cooked with her children – and the response surprised her.

Kate said: “Yes I really enjoy it.

“Again for them to be creative, for them to try and be as independent as possible with it.

“Actually, one of the last things we cooked together was your pizza dough.

“We made pizza’s with your pizza dough recipe.”

Surprised, Ms Berry asked: “Did it work?”

A delighted Kate added: “It did work, they loved it, absolutely loved it.”

But Ms Berry was even more surprised to know that her name was little Prince Louis’s first word.

Kate said: “Actually I have to tell you, one of Louis’s first words was his version of Mary.

“Because right at his height are all our cooking books in the kitchen and you know children are really fascinated by faces, and your face are all over your cooking books, and so I used to say ‘thats Mary Berry’ and so one of his first words was Mary.”

Honoured, Ms Berry replied: “Well I am very flattered.”

A smiling Kate then said: “So he would definitely recognise you if he saw you today.”

During the special festive show, Prince William also spoke of his children with affection.

While visiting The Passage, a charity helping homeless and vulnerable people he is a patron of, William spoke of one of the talents Prince George has – drawing.

Asked by one of the visitors of the shelter what he was going to give his children for Christmas, William said: “George has practically written his lists for Father Christmas.

“He loves his drawing. He is a very good drawer.

“He might be given something for his drawing or football, as he loves his football as well.”

Prince William, accompanied by Ms Berry who followed the royals to four different engagements in the past months to film the programme, added as a joke that his eldest son had decided to support the only football team he told him not to – Chelsea FC.
