Kate reveals ‘most daring look to date’ despite ‘modelling herself on the Queen’

Kate, the Duchess of Cambridge, attended a gala dinner this week to raise awareness about the horrors of addiction. But, one royal expert has claimed the dress the Duchess of Cambridge was wearing was one of her “most daring looks to date”. Erin Hill, the Senior News Editor at People Magazine, suggested it made a change as Kate now “models herself after the Queen.”

She told People Now: “She first wore this in 2016, to an event at the Natural History Museum.

“It is one of her most daring looks to date. The shoulder bearing, it is a little sexy for her.

“We often see her in a lot of coat dresses, she is modelling herself after the Queen now.

“So, it is nice to see her breaking these pieces out of the closet. For her it is daring.”

Kate paired her look with £525 silver embellished Jimmy Choo heels at the event at London’s Somerset House.

Ms Hill added: “Sparkling Jimmy Choo silver heels. When she wore this dress three years ago she wore nude strappy heels which were less dramatic. These are amazing.”

At the annual gala dinner earlier this week, the Duchess of Cambridge wore a Barbara Casasola dress worth £1,580, which she has previously worn in 2016.

At the Action on Addiction event, Kate delivered a speech highlighting how the root of addiction can often be traced back to a person’s earliest years in life.

In a speech, she said: “Having met so many people who’ve suffered from addiction, I have seen over and over again that, sadly, the root causes can so often be traced right back to the very earliest years of someone’s life.”

She continued: “Trauma experienced in early childhood, in some cases, as a result of separation, abandonment, abuse, or even emotional neglect, can have a lasting effect.”

She added: “Sadly, for many who are suffering with addiction, they just don’t receive the help they need early enough.”

Addiction Awareness Week runs from June 10-16 and aims to raise public awareness about the issues surrounding addiction, as well as and to engage with people and families affected.

The Duchess of Cambridge had a busy week, as she also visited the Lake District with her husband Prince William.
