Speaking to the Royally US podcast, Christopher Andersen, the author of Brothers and Wives, a book about the private life of Prince’s William and Harry, Kate Middleton and Meghan Markle, stressed the nature of the departure of Prince Harry from the Royal Family has impacted Kate Middleton in a huge way, given their previously close bond. Discussing the issue of their pair’s special connection, Royally US host Christina Garibaldi noted how in the years before Harry left the Royal Family the Duke of Sussex and Duchess of Cambridge were “very close”.

She noted an example of this was seen when Prince Harry “helped William get back together with Kate” when the pair broke up as youngsters.

Responding to the suggestions, Mr Anderson said: “Harry was always close to Kate and he always said she was the sister he never had.”

He went on to note how Harry was also “very emotional” at the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge’s wedding and even “cried” when they got married.

He said: “He described her as his sister and she got emotional too!

“They always had this banter, they had similar senses of humour.”

But Mr Andersen said the pair’s connection was also rooted in the roles they played within the Royal Family which comprised of less serious positions than others.

He said: “They both knew their responsibility to William who took himself much more seriously than they did.”

But Mr Andersen stressed how “the strain is undeniable” between Kate and Harry following 18-months of turbulent relations within the household.

He said how brothers William and Harry are “at war” with one another following the Duke and Duchess’s explosive exit from the Royal Family over a year ago.

He stressed the issues of inter-family relations has been made no better by the relationship between the Kate, the Duchess of Cambridge and Meghan, the Duchess of Sussex.

While he acknowledged Meghan and Kate “can respect each other”, he stessed this “has not been a warm and fuzzy relationship at all” and that “they have not been close.”

The insight follows months of allegations, including that of racism, which have been strongly denied by Buckingam Palace, being levelled at the Royal Family by Prince Harry and Meghan Markle.

The pair have used a string of interviews, including the earth shattering Oprah Winfrey interview earlier this year, to launch scathing attacks on The Firm as they detailed their version of events behind closed doors at Buckingham Palace.

In one interview with the Armchair Expert’s podcast Prince Harry also accused his family of “genetic suffering” which he claimed stemmed from his grandparents, The Queen and the late Prince Philip.

While in other interviews he suggested his father, Prince Charles and brother William were “trapped” in the Royal Family.
