Kate Middleton’s public snub to Princess Beatrice exposed: ‘There were tears!’

Kate and her husband Prince William have just celebrated their youngest son Prince Louis’ second birthday in their home in Norfolk, Anmer House. The pair have stepped up their royal engagements recently and have been widely commended for their efforts by the general public. However, according to an archived report from the Daily Mail, Kate struggled to get along with William’s cousins in the past, particularly Beatrice.

According to reporter Catherine Ostler, writing in 2016, their relationship was already rocky even before Kate organised a charity roller disco in 2008.

Ms Ostler explained: “it is said that, somehow, Beatrice wasn’t initially invited to the bash.

“Then, when an invitation was apparently extended to her – but not by Kate, according to sources, the Princess wasn’t made aware of the Eighties dress code and arrived in an ordinary dress, while everyone else was in neon outfits.

“Beatrice, it seems, blamed Kate.

“Some say there were tears.”

The event took place in Vauxhall, South London, and there were hundreds of guests in attendance.

Kate was hoping to raise £100,000 for Tom’s Ward at the Children’s Hospital in Oxford and for the Place2Be organisation, which offers counselling to children.

The Daily Mail pointed out at the time of the 2008 event why Kate was so keen to host the roller disco in the first place.

The article read: “Miss Middleton is said to be anxious to prove she is not sitting around ‘waiting for William to click his fingers’, as senior royal sources have recently claimed.”

Kate’s keenness to establish her independence from the Royal Family may have led to an oversight regarding her future relatives, the York sisters, and resulted in the unfortunate outfit mishap.

This followed an unfortunate fallout between York and the Middleton sisters over seats at a London fashion event.

Apparently, earlier in 2008, Kate, Beatrice and Eugenie were already seated on the front row of their favourite designer Issa’s fashion show.

When Kate’s sister Pippa appeared, organisers asked the Yorks to shuffle down to make room for her so the Middletons could be seated together, they reportedly refused.

Ms Ostler explained: “Depending on who you talk to, this was a case of the Princesses being regal and unfriendly or Pippa being unnecessarily pushing because she didn’t want to lose face by suffering the social death that is being made to sit in the second row.”

Apparently, the York sisters have struggled to come to terms with their place in the royal pecking order since Kate’s arrival.

Upon her wedding to William in 2011, Kate became a senior royal and a central figure within the monarchy.

Beatrice and Eugenie however, have gradually been sidelined over the years.

For instance, their royal protection officers were removed in an effort to reduce the costs of the Royal Family and to reflect Prince Charles’ idea of a ‘stripped down monarchy’ several years ago.

The York sisters apparently feel snubbed that the Queen has helped to accelerate Kate to the front of the Royal Family, too, even though she was not born into the Firm.
