Kate Middleton WILL be Princess of Wales when William takes over from Charles, say experts

This comes after Charles began attending secret meetings in preparation for becoming King, the Daily Star Online has reported. It was also reported that as Charles gets ready to take over from the Queen, Prince William is preparing to take his father’s place as heir to the throne. William will also reportedly inherit Prince Charles’ estate worth around £1billion, as well as the title Duke of Cornwall when he steps into his shoes.

But royal experts have told the Daily Star Online when Charles takes the throne, he will also likely bestow his current title of Prince of Wales onto William.

This title is seen more as an “honour” for heirs to the throne, but will then carry massive significance for his wife Kate, Duchess of Cambridge.

If her husband does become Prince of Wales, she will then automatically take on the title of Princess of Wales.

This was the title famously used by Princess Diana, but was not taken by Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall, when she married Charles.

Camilla opted not to take the title because of the potential uproar from Diana’s millions of fans across the world.

Royal commentator Robert Jobson told the Daily Star Online: “If William is given the title by his dad when Charles is king, Kate will be Princess of Wales.

“Camilla chose to use one of Charles’s other titles hence she is HRH The Duchess of Cornwall in England and Wales.

“Should Camilla want to be styled HRH The Princess of Wales she could be.”

He added: “The title has nothing to do with her (Kate). She will get it as William’s wife.

“He will only get it if his father awards him the title. There is nothing automatic about it. Just 21 men have held that coveted rank in history.

“Charles is the latest having been made it at 10. The title ‘Prince of Wales’ is one of the great continuities of English and Welsh and, latterly, British, history.

“The incumbent has no formal public role or responsibility legislated by Parliament, but the bearer of the title is usually the next in line to the throne or heir apparent.

“The title, which is within the gift of the reigning sovereign, is granted to the heir apparent as a personal dignity and the title Earl of Chester has always been bestowed upon the recipient in conjunction with it.

“It is not automatically given, and the title not heritable, either. It is seen as a great honour.”

Joe Little, managing editor of royal publication Majesty Magazine, also said Kate will take the title of Princess of Wales, wirth William almost certain to become Prince of Wales.

He said: “Yes, she will (become Princess of Wales), is the short answer.

“The process of William becoming Prince of Wales is not automatic but will surely happen.”
