Kate Middleton ‘wanted loads of kids and no royal obligations’

Kate Middleton’s ‘Hold Still’ project praised by experts

Kate, Duchess of Cambridge, has become one of the most prominent faces of the Firm during the last tumultuous year. She has shown unwavering dedication to the country as she has attempted to boost morale with her husband Prince William. Their recent Royal Train tour of the UK was praised for encouraging frontline workers, while her private volunteering efforts have also won over the nation.

Yet, she has been accused in the past of being a social climber, partially because she has come from a non-aristocratic background and married one of the most eligible aristocratic men in the UK.

Other reports suggested Kate was already sorting out her flat accommodation to attend Edinburgh University when she suddenly decided to take a gap year, like William.

She then swapped to study at St Andrews after William’s university choice became public, and even picked the same course as him — leading many to believe she had earmarked the future King as a romantic option.

However, a friend from Marlborough College, Kate’s alma mater, said the reality was rather different.

They explained: “All Catherine ever wanted was a husband, a house in the country, loads of kids, a dog and a kitchen with an Aga.

“Becoming a member of the Royal Family, thrust into the limelight, is the last thing she would have wanted.

“But she fell in love with William, who just happened to be heir to the throne.

“She married William despite his position, not because of it.”

Ever since Kate and William’s romance was confirmed, there have been unsubstantiated reports circulating over what may have drawn the future royal to the second-in-line to the throne.

Some reports even suggested Kate’s mother, Carole, was keen for her daughter to marry someone high up the social ladder.

However, the friend told the Mail on Sunday: “Whereas Catherine’s younger sister Pippa was always expected to be a hot-shot lawyer or work in the City — having the ambition and drive of her mother — Catherine was much more like her father.

“She wanted a happy, domestic setting — looking after everyone.”

The insider suggested Kate was still pining after her first love, Harry Blakelock, when she first met William.

The Duchess of Cambridge has also hinted at her own introverted nature.

Speaking in her engagement interview in 2010, she said she was extremely bashful when first introduced to William.

The last year has seen a particular change take place, as body language experts and royal commentators have noticed how Kate appears to be much more confident in her royal role now.

According to YouGov, Kate is now the third most popular and eighth most famous member of the Royal Family, with a staggering 66 percent of the public supporting her.

She and William will be celebrating their 10th wedding anniversary later this year.
