The Duchess of Cambridge visited School21 in East London on Thursday wearing a statement pink coat and sweater. She was joined by her husband, Prince William who, for the first time, addressed Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s controversial tell-all interview with the US TV host.

The Duchess paired her bright overcoat with black trousers and heeled black pumps.

She accessorised the look with an envelope handbag and a colourful floral-patterned face mask.

Kate and William’s in-person engagement marked the start of a mental health project for secondary schools students.

The initiative was partially funded by the Royal Foundation and already rolled out at primary schools in 2018.

During the visit, Prince William was approached by Sky News reporter Inzamam Rashid who asked him whether he had made contact with his brother Prince Harry since the bombshell interview aired.

The Duke responded: ”I haven’t spoken to him yet but I will do.”

Mr Rashid also quizzed him on whether the Royal Family is “a racist family”.

Prince William replied: “We are very much not a racist family.”

This rare response was labelled “unprecedented” by ITV royal editor Chris Ship, who addressed the exchange on Twitter.

Mr Ship wrote: “It’s unprecedented for a senior royal to speak in this way.

“And shows the fight they now have on their hands to repair their reputation following Meghan and Harry’s explosive claims.

“Remember the Queen’s statement said, ‘recollections may vary’.”

Royal expert Phil Dampier also took to the social media platform to hail the Duke’s “dignified” response.

He wrote: “Clearly very hurt but dignified. Well said William!”

In a separate post, the royal author added: “The royals will survive and slowly fight back but #HarryandMeghan have played all their cards.

“From now on they can’t blame everyone else and have to stand or fall by their own actions.”
