Appearing in Mary Berry’s ‘A Berry Royal Christmas’, Kate shared she loves making her own birthday cakes for the three every year. The Duke and Duchess previously shared their children also love getting stuck into baking.

Kate told Ms Berry in the holiday special she makes her own cakes, but stays up very late to make sure they’re done right for their children.

She said: “I love making the cake.

“It’s become a bit of a tradition that I stay up ’til midnight with ridiculous amounts of cake mix and icing and I make far too much. But I love it.”

The Duchess also told Ms Berry “we grow our own vegetables” like carrots and beans.

In a heart warming moment, Kate also told Ms Berry one of Louis’ first words was ‘Mary’.

She said: “One of Louis’ first words was ‘Mary’ because right at his height are all my cooking books in the kitchen bookshelf.

“And children are really fascinated by faces, and your faces are all over your cooking books and he would say ‘That’s Mary Berry’.

“So he would definitely recognise you if he saw you today.”

During the coronavirus pandemic, the three children helped William and Kate bake in the kitchen.

William told ambulance workers in Norfolk back in August: “I’m worried about the waistline of the nation as well with all the chocolate and cakes.”

Kate also told the BBC in April: “The children have got such stamina, I don’t know how.

“Honestly, you get to the end of the day and you write down the list of all the things that you’ve done in that day.

“So, you pitch a tent, take the tent down again, cook, bake.

“You get to the end of the day — they have had a lovely time — but it is amazing how much you can cram into one day that’s for sure.”
