Meghan and Prince Harry are the subject of a new tell-all biography called ‘Finding Freedom’, which exposes the events that led to their departure from the Royal Family on March 31. Written by Carolyn Durand and Omid Scobie, it has led to fears from Palace insiders that the relationship between the former Sussex royals and the Royal Family will never be repaired.
The book claimed that the Cambridge royals invited Meghan over to Anmer Hall in Norfolk for a welcoming dinner.
A statement released on behalf of the Sussexes said: “The Duke and Duchess of Sussex were not interviewed and did not contribute to Finding Freedom.
“This book is based on the authors’ own experiences as members of the royal press corps and their own independent reporting.”
But a friend of the Cambridge royals reportedly claimed that the dinner was planned around Meghan, with the friend saying they “personally cooked her favourite vegan food”.
But the book claimed that the gesture was not enough to form a bond between Meghan and the Cambridge royals.
William and Kate also were said to have “rolled out the red carpet” to make Meghan feel more welcome in the Royal Family, according to their friend.
Other gestures to Meghan included invites to parties, as well as trips to Wimbledon.
The friend of William and Kate claimed that they had been nothing but “warm and welcoming” to Meghan.
They said: “It’s just completely wrong to suggest they didn’t talk and plain wrong to say the Cambridges weren’t welcoming.
“How can you say they weren’t warm or welcoming when they hosted Meghan for Christmas, invited her into their totally private inner sanctum at Anmer Hall and did everything they could to make her feel at home?
“They personally cooked her favourite vegan food, they couldn’t have been more welcoming.”
The new tell-all also revealed that Kate and Meghan had a strained relationship despite the Cambridge royals’ gestures.
Kate was accused in the biography of “purposefully” snubbing Meghan and avoiding eye contact at a royal engagement.
Pictures of the pair at Billingbear Polo Club, in Berkshire in July 2019, showed that they were distant from one another, with the book claiming that Kate and Meghan “barely exchanged a word” while at the event.
The book also claimed that Meghan felt she had little in common with Kate, aside from “the fact that they lived at Kensington Palace”.

Kate and William’s relationship with Harry was also affected by Meghan’s arrival.
One of the most shocking claims in ‘Finding Freedom’ is that Harry became enraged at William when he commented on how fast the Sussexes’ became engaged.
William reportedly said to Harry: “Are you sure about this?”
According to a source quoted by The Sun, Harry then “went ballistic and said: ‘You’re trying to wreck this relationship before it’s even started.’”
‘Finding Freedom’ is currently being serialised in The Times ahead of a full release on August 11.
But a source has claimed it will “open old wounds” despite the best efforts of the Royal Family.
The source told Vanity Fair: “It’s going to open old wounds at a time when everyone wanted to move on.
“I think the person who will be most upset about it all is the Queen.”
