Kate Middleton row: Royal Family target Duchess – She must ‘DO MORE’ despite three kids

Kate, Duchess of Cambridge, joined the Royal Family in 2011 when she married second-in-line to the throne, Prince William. The Cambridge couple have three children together: Prince George, six, Princess Charlotte, four, and Prince Louis, one. Three children and life as a working royal keeps the Duchess of Cambridge busy – but according to royal experts she will need to be even busier next year.

Royal expert Omid Scobie said Prince William, Kate, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, will be required to “put in a lot more work” in 2020.

Speaking on Heirpod podcast, Mr Scobie said next year would bring “big change” to the family.

Last week, the Duchess of Cambridge took over an important royal patronage from the Queen: Family Action.

It was the second large patronage she had taken on this year, with Kate taking over from the Queen as the patron of the Royal Photographic Society earlier this summer.

Royal expert Victoria Arbiter said on Heirpod: “It is interesting when we look at the younger generation of royals as for decades, the older generation of royals had upwards of 600, 700 or even 800 patronages.

“But what we are seeing with this younger generation is a much more concentrated focused effort, and you really understand what they are interested in.

“So Family Action feeds into Kate’s very hands on work with vulnerable families and disadvantaged children.”

According to the Court Circular, Kate has completed 56 official royal engagements this year to date.

In 2018, the year her youngest son was born, she completed 42 engagements and in 2017 she undertook 70 engagements.

But according to the royal experts, Kate must “do more” in the future.

Mr Scobie said: “It’s great, she is a mother, she has three kids, she has a very busy plate as it is, but to see her taking on even more is needed because as the Queen steps back, the younger royals having to step forward and put in a lot more work.”

Ms Arbiter added: “Kate is quite fortunate she had their children when she did, because she’s been able to be hands-on with them at home.

“But the schedule needs to start building now, as she offers her support to the Queen as well.

“2020 is going to get a lot busier for all of them, as we see with Prince Andrew out of the mix now.”

She added: “We’ve just lost one member of the Royal Family technically and, already, the workload increases for everyone else.”

Ms Arbiter revealed 2020 was likely to be a “big year of change” for the royal mother.

She said: “2020 will be a big year of adjustment, change and adapting with the Queen being older.

“So everyone needs to start raising the game a little bit.”

Mr Scobie said there is a pattern of patronages being handed down to the younger royals in recent years.

He added this was likely to continue, but wondered what would happen to these charities which need a royal patron as the Queen steps back and Prince Andrew stepped down.

He said: “There are only certain royals available to help with those.”

Ms Arbiter said these charities were “further collateral damage” of the Prince Andrew fallout.

She said: “Prince Andrew is not a priority for the rest of the family at the moment and they’re trying to distance themselves a little bit”.

The royal experts added charities would be more considered in their decision to choose to have a royal patron in future given the tightening of belts generally.
