Kate Middleton ‘patching up’ with Meghan Markle with ‘comforting advice’, expert says

Kate, Duchess of Cambridge and Meghan Markle were dogged by persistent rumours of a break until the pair showed a united front during several joint outings over the summer. The pair however are believed to be attempting to strengthen their relationship amid an ongoing fall out between their respective husbands, Prince William and Prince Harry. Asked whether the Duchess of Cambridge is trying to “patch things up” with the Duchess of Sussex, royal expert Dickie Arbiter said: “I think there’s an element of truth to this.

“There’s no bad blood between Kate and Meghan – if you remember, way back in July, they were in the Royal Box at Wimbledon watching the lady’s finals.

“A few weeks later, they were at polo watching their respective husbands play.”

He continued: “There’s a bit of friction between William and Harry, as Harry intimated in that ITV documentary just over a week ago.

“It’s really for the two young men to sort themselves out. Meanwhile, Kate is giving Meghan perhaps a little bit of advice, a little bit of comfort.”

In a candid interview Meghan Markle recorded during her tour of South Africa last month, the Duchess admitted to finding it “hard” to adapt to her royal role while also getting used to being a wife and mother.

Mr Arbiter suggested Kate has been offering her sister-in-law “advice and comfort” drawn from her own experience as a mother of three young children – Prince George, 6, Princess Charlotte,4, and Prince Louis, 1.

He continued: “She’s been a mum three times while Meghan is a first-time mum.

“It’s always nice to have a little bit of help and a bit of comfort.”

Royal author Phil Dampier said sourced within the Palace report the Duchess of Cambridge has launched a campaign to rally people behind the Duchess of Sussex.

Mr Dampier said: “Behind the scenes, I’m told Kate is doing her best to bring everyone together and help Meghan.

“I’m told she has reached out to Meghan and spoken to her on the phone. Kate feels sorry for her and knows that Meghan is struggling.

“Catherine has told Meghan that every royal – including herself – goes through a bad patch with the press but the important thing is to learn by mistakes, move on and get through it.”

Mr Dampier also suggested Kate is eager to heal the rift between the two couples amid growing speculation Meghan and Harry could soon choose to relocate abroad to avoid heavy public scrutiny.

He added: “It would be a disaster if Harry and Meghan quit and lived abroad – William and Kate would be devastated.”

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge and the Duke and Duchess of Sussex will be on public view together for the forthcoming Remembrance Sunday commemorations on November 11.

This is the meaningful moment when Prince William and Harry will next come face-to-face following Harry’s revelation they are “on separate paths.”

Palace staff are hopeful that everything will be patched between the brothers by that time.
