Kate Middleton news: The tradition Kate and William will drop this year revealed

A number of royal events have been postponed due to the coronavirus pandemic, it emerged this week. The ongoing outbreak has also forced some members to cancel royal tours, which is very uncommon for members of the Royal Family.

Every year Prince William and Kate, Duchess of Cambridge honour St Patrick’s Day with a public military engagement.

As William is Colonel of the Irish Guards, the Duek and Duchess of Cambridge watch some 350 soldiers take part in a parade every year.

But this year it is understood the event will not be going ahead.

However, according to reports, the reason the event is not going ahead is unrelated to the coronavirus outbreak.

HELLO! reports the event is not scheduled to go ahead because the 1st Battalion Irish Guards are currently deployed in Iraq and South Sudan.

But a number of royal engagements have been postponed due to the coronavirus outbreak.

As the number of coronavirus cases continues to increase every day, the Royal Family has had to cut back on some of its scheduled commitments and even royal tours.

It was announced on Friday the Queen, who is due to turn 94 this year, has postponed some of the royal engagements scheduled for next week.

A statement from Buckingham Palace read: “As a sensible precaution and for practical reasons in the current circumstances, changes are being made to The Queen’s diary commitments in the coming weeks.

“In consultation with the Medical Household and Government, Her Majesty’s forthcoming visits to Cheshire and Camden will be rescheduled.

“Audiences will continue as usual. Other events will be reviewed on an ongoing basis in line with the appropriate advice.”

The engagements the Queen has postponed would have seen her meeting staff at the Bentley car factory in Cheshire next week.

The Queen was also scheduled to visit a local school, and operate the Lovell Telescope at an observatory.

In light of the recent coronavirus pandemic, the Queen is not the only royal to have altered her schedule.

Prince Charles and Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall are also postponing their spring tour.

The tour was due to start on March 17, but the tour has been postponed on the advice of the Government.

Charles and Camilla were due to visit Cyprus together, before heading on to Jordan.

A Clarence House spokesman said: “Owing to the unfolding situation with the Coronavirus pandemic, The British Government has asked Their Royal Highnesses to postpone their spring tour to Bosnia and Herzegovina, Cyprus and Jordan.”

In recent weeks the Royal Family has also taken additional measures to prevent the spread of coronavirus.

At the Commonwealth Day service at Westminster Abbey, royals avoided shaking hands with guests.
