Kate, Duchess of Cambridge, and Prince William spent the last national lockdown in their country home, Anmer Hall, in Norfolk. But this time round in the second lockdown schools have stayed open, meaning the young Cambridge children will have likely stayed in London with their parents in order not to miss out on their education. George and Charlotte both attend Thomas’s Battersea school in south London, and the Cambridge family tend to be based in Kensington Palace during term times for easy access to the school.
When will we next see Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis?
The Cambridge children haven’t been seen out and about for a while as the lockdown continues in the UK.
As it stands, it has not yet been confirmed when Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis will make their next appearance in public.
However, the children’s grandmother Carole Middleton has said she plans to decorate the Christmas tree virtually alongside her grandchildren this year, so the three could appear then if their parents or grandparents decide to post any videos or pictures to social media – which they have done in the past.
Mrs Middleton revealed how the family would be ringing in the festive season differently this year to make way for Covid-19 safety measures.
The Duchess of Cambridge’s mother shared an Instagram post with details of the family’s tree-decorating plans this Christmas.
Mrs Middleton wrote: “We may not be able to get together but, after a year like 2020, we need to remember what’s really important this Christmas.
“For me, what really matters is that my family feels connected.
“I normally let my grandchildren help me decorate the tree. This year, I’ll ask them by video call to decide which decorations go where.”
The children’s maternal grandmother added: “It may need to be tastefully rearranged later…!
“We may not be able to get together, but after a year like 2020, we need to remember what’s really important this Christmas.”
And their grandmother’s tree is not the only Christmas conifer the children have the pleasure of decorating every year.
Queen Elizabeth II previously revealed in the documentary The Queen’s Green Planet that she also gets help from her great-grandchildren in adorning the festive tree.

When senior castle attendant Neil Turner told the Queen how he slaved over the perfectly decorated tree, the monarch responded: “Yes, that is always the problem, is the children love knocking those [decorations] off.
“And the great thing is to make them decorate it, and they are a bit more careful.”
The Cambridge family’s Christmas plans have been thrown into disarray this year amid the ongoing global coronavirus pandemic.
Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis made their first appearance at the St Mary’s Magdalene Church on the Sandringham Estate on Christmas Day last year, and were expected to do so again this year.
But while fans of the young trio were undoubtedly looking forward to catching a glimpse of them this year, the event is unlikely to go ahead for the entire family.
The Queen usually attends St Mary’s alongside members of her family before spending the rest of the day at Sandringham House on the Norfolk estate.
However, a Buckingham Palace spokesperson denied the service was officially cancelled, saying: “It’s too early to be making decisions about Christmas, and it’s all undecided at the moment.”
If the event, known to be close to the Queen’s heart, doesn’t go ahead, it will be only the third time during the monarch’s 68-year reign she has missed the Christmas Day service.
