Kate, Duchess of Cambridge, 38, and Prince William, 37, have help to raise the morale of Britons amid the current crisis. In recent weeks Kate has delighted fans with new photos of her children Prince Louis, one, and Princess Charlotte, four, to mark their birthdays.

Kate is a talented photographer and releases new portraits of her children on their birthdays every year.

Kate is patron of the National Portrait Gallery (NPG) and has teamed up with the organisation for a new lockdown-focussed initiative.

The Hold Still project aims to inspire those with camera experience or none to take snapshots of life during lockdown.

Kate is backing the initiative which aims to capture the “spirit of the nation” during these difficult times.

From key workers tirelessly to keep Britain going to NHS staff and those isolating in remote villages the project hopes to encourage Britons every where to document their “new normal.”

The Duchess will appear on This Morning Britain at 10am on Thursday to promote the project.

In the pre-recorded video chat with Philip Schofield and Holly Willoughby Kate, said: “We’ve all been struck by some of the incredible images we’ve seen which have given us an insight into the experiences and stories of people across the country.

“Some desperately sad images showing the human tragedy of this pandemic and other uplifting pictures showing people coming together to support those more vulnerable.”

The Duchess added: “Hold Still aims to capture a portrait of the nation, the spirit of the nation, what everyone is going through at this time.

“Photographs reflecting resilience, bravery, kindness – all those things that people are experiencing.”

The project which is free and open to all and has three central themes – Helpers And Heroes, Your New Normal and Acts Of Kindness – with photographers encouraged to provide a short written description outlining the experiences of those in the pictures.

Kate will help to choose 100 of the entries, chosen for the emotion or experiences they express rather than their expertise, with the photographs going on virtual display before a selection are shown across the UK later in the year.

The National Portrait Gallery’s director, Nicholas Cullinan, said: “Even if we are alone, we can all create something together.

“We are honoured to partner with the Duchess of Cambridge on the Hold Still project, which will provide an inclusive perspective on, and an important historical record of, these unprecedented times, expressed through the faces of the nation.”

Kate’s special appearance on This Morning will be the latest in a string of video calls she has made to support worthy causes amid the coronavirus crisis.

Last weekend the Duchess delighted fans with five new portraits of Princess Charlotte on her birthday.

Charlotte, five, was photographed helping deliver care packages to vulnerable members of the community near their Norfolk Home, Anmer Hall.

In one of the photos, Charlotte is seen knocking on a pensioners door with a fresh bag of pasta she had made with mum Kate the day before.

Last month, Kate photographer Prince Louis, two, playing about with rainbow paints as he made a colourful tribute to NHS staff.

The series of sweet photos were also shared to mark his birthday on April 23.
