Kate, Duchess of Cambridge has continued working the coronavirus pandemic in the UK. Alongside husband Prince William, whom she married in 2011, the couple have been working visibly harder than normal and had video calls with members of charities they support as well as key workers.

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge have also been keeping in contact with their mental health charity Heads Together and delivering food to those in need in their local area.

Royal expert Katie Nicholl said Kate and William have not been sitting back during lockdown, and instead have been “stepping up to the plate”.

However, in a new Channel 5 documentary, Prince Philip and the Queen have been monitoring the Cambridges.

Appearing on William & Kate: Too Good to Be True? royal author Tom Quinn said the Duchess of Cambridge as well as her husband are “watched closely” by senior royals.

The Duke of Edinburgh, who just celebrated his 99th birthday, is among one of the royals watching the future King and Queen Consort.

Some members of the Royal Family were reportedly worried Kate and William wouldn’t “repeat mistakes made by other young royals”.

Mr Quinn said the Queen and Prince Philip “didn’t want that to happen again”.

Speaking on the programme, Mr Quinn said: “The Queen and the Duke of Edinburgh, will be watching very carefully, especially given that younger royals in the past have got things very badly wrong and they don’t want that to happen again.”

However, the royals do not seem to have reason to worry, as both Kate and William have stepped up their duties in recent weeks.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, William and Kate have been urging the public to look after their mental health during lockdown.

In a message broadcast across every UK radio station for Mental Health Minute last month, they told people to remember “we’re all connected”.

The Duke of Cambridge said: “We’re all connected. And sometimes just talking about how you’re feeling can make a big difference.

“So right now, let’s join together across the UK and reach out to someone.”

The Duchess added: “If you’re struggling, it’s important to talk about it.

“Or if someone you know is acting differently, it’s OK to ask how they are. Use this moment to send a message.”

For several years The Duchess has been working with experts and organisations championing the importance of mental health.

These charities  include those providing solid psychological, social and emotional platforms for children in their earliest years of life.

This in order to support their mental health and emotional resilience, and to provide them with the foundations to lead to healthy and fulfilling adulthoods.

The Duchess of Cambridge has previously said: “It is our duty, as parents and as teachers, to give all children the space to build their emotional strength and provide a strong foundation for their future.”
