Kate Middleton godmother: Could Kate and Prince William be royal baby godparents?
Meghan Markle and Prince Harry will soon take on new roles as parents, as Meghan is due to give birth this month or early in May. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex will celebrate their first wedding anniversary as new parents, having married on May 19, 2018. All royal babies are christened, with family and friends of the parents chosen to be godparents.
Could Kate and William be the royal baby’s godparents?
Meghan and Harry’s baby may not have arrived yet, but speculation is already rife around who could be godparents to the newest Royal Family member.
Bookmakers Ladbrokes have cut odds in half that Prince William and Kate Middleton being godparents to the new royal baby.
With just days to go until the Duke and Duchess of Sussex welcome their firstborn into the world, Ladbrokes have cut the odds of Kate and Will becoming Godparents to just 5/1 from 10/1.

Ladbrokes spokesman Alex Apati said: “We know how close Will and Harry are and the same can be said for Meghan and Kate, so we wouldn’t be surprised in the slightest if the pair are named Godparents to the newborn.”
Also in contention is Charlie Van Straubenzee, Harry’s childhood friend who remains a clear 1/2 favourite for the title.
Mr Van Staubenzee’s older brother Thomas van Straubenzee is godfather to Prince William and Kate, Duchess of Cambridge’s daughter, Princess Charlotte.
Jessica Mulroney and her husband Ben are at 2/1 to clinching the title of godparents.
Jessica is Meghan’s best friend, and recently shared a sweet snap of her and the Duchess at her wedding to Prince Harry last year.
Also in the running are friends of the couple, George and Amal Clooney at 6/1.
Meghan was baptised by the Archbishop of Canterbury just before her wedding to Prince Harry, to welcome her into the Church of England.
The ceremony was followed by her confirmation, and this was done out of respect for the Queen’s role as head of the Church of England.
Royals are baptised using holy water from the River Jordan, which is imported specially for the ceremonies.
