Kate, Duchess of Cambridge, 39, is sometimes described as a Queen-in-waiting as she will be consort when Prince William, 38, takes the throne. On Thursday fans praised the Duchess’s credentials as she and William carried out an important visit to Wolverhampton. During the day trip, Kate and William visited a number of organisations and showed they were happy to get stuck in to sporting activities with the young people they met.

Tweeting about the outing, Daily Express royal correspondent Richard Palmer wrote: “The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are marking Mental Health Awareness Week by visiting three organisations in Wolverhampton that support children and young people.

“They first visited The Way Wolverhampton Youth Zone.”

Kensington Palace shared several posts and pictures about William and Kate’s day out on Twitter which received hundreds of positive comments from fans.

Many reacted to a video of Kate and William having fun playing ping pong, trying out football and archery while visiting organisations that raise awareness around mental health.

The Kensington Palace tweet read: “Today’s visit is all about understanding local organisations here in Wolverhampton.

“Organisations that are motivating and inspiring young people to transform their lives. #MentalHealthAwarenessWeek

“(P.S blaming the shoes for Soccer ball attempts).”

Royal fans gushed over Kate’s appearance and shared their excitement at her one day becoming Queen.

One wrote: “Duchess Catherine is such a beautiful, natural woman. Such a blessing to the Royal Family.

“What a wonderful Queen she will make beside Prince William when he is finally crowned King.”

Another shared a clip of Kate laughing during the day’s outing alongside the comment ‘My Queen!’

Another chimed in: “Yes The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge Are the face of the UK! They must take the throne!”

What is a Queen Consort?

When William takes the throne Kate will receive a new title and be known as his Queen Consort.

While she will not share the constitutional powers of her husband they will have equal royal status.

As consort, Kate’s role will be mainly to support William with his royal duties but she is also likely to continue with charitable work of her own.

Last week the Cambridges launched their own YouTube channel apart from the Royal Family’s official account.

The move is expected to attract a younger audience and be more laid back than the Cambridges other social media channels.
