Kate Middleton ‘brought William and Charles together’ says Myers

Kate, the Duchess of Cambridge has helped to build bridges between Prince William and Prince Charles, according to reports. The future queen consort’s role in her husband’s relationship with his own father has been described as pivotal. Daily Mirror Royal Editor Russell Myers discussed what the royal had done on ITV’s Lorraine show.

He told viewers: “Charles is a workaholic at the best of times.

“I think Kate has brought him closer with the family.

“She’s got him to spend more time with the grandkids and to chill out a little bit.

“Charles and William are very very different people.”

Mr Myers continued: “But their relationship as of late has been really strong.

“The actual person that’s brought them together is Kate.

“She was the one who brought them together for the big 70th birthday photograph.

“They all looked like a happy family, all smiling.”

In honour of Charles’ milestone birthday in 2018, a number of family portraits, taken in the Clarence House gardens, were released.

They featured Charles, Camilla, Kate, William, the Cambridge children and Meghan and Harry.

The Duchess of Cambridge was also responsible for the Father’s Day tribute to Charles that featured a photograph she had taken of the duo.

The caption on social media read: “Happy Father’s Day!

“[In the picture], The Duke of Cambridge with Prince of Wales at Sandringham in December 2019.

“Photo on the left taken by The Duchess of Cambridge.”

The same photo was also used by Clarence House to wish William a happy birthday last year.

In June they wrote: “Wishing a very happy birthday to The Duke of Cambridge today!”
