Kate Middleton at Wimbledon: The iconic outfits worn by Kate at Wimbledon

Wimbledon is the oldest tennis tournament in the world and is regarded by many as the most prestigious. The tournament is defined as a quintessentially British event and attracts a number of members of the royal family each year. These royal family members sit in the 74-person royal box at Wimbledon while cheering on their sporting favourites. The royal box comes with a strict dress code requiring a demure dress for ladies and a jacket, tie and proper shoes for men, but what has Kate Middleton, the Duchess of Cambridge chosen to wear over the years?

2011

The Middleton family are keen tennis fans, which means that Catherine had attended Wimbledon before married Prince William in 2011.

But her first official visit to the renowned tennis tournament was in 2011.

The newly-wed bride wowed royal fans wearing a white Temperley dress as she arrived at the tennis event with husband Prince William.

The Duchess Of Cambridge wore the Temperley London dress with nude heels: managing to adhere to Wimbledon’s white fashion rule.

2012

During her second year at the tournament, the Duchess of Cambridge attended Wimbledon three times.

On her first visit, she recycled a £900 sailor-style cream dress designed by Sarah Burton for McQueen which she wore on last year’s Royal Tour of Canada and she accessorised with navy LK Bennett heels and a Jaeger clutch.

2013

The Duchess of Cambridge missed the tennis event in 2013 because she was very heavily pregnant with George and therefore was unable to attend the tournament.

In 2013, Wimbledon ran from June 24 – July 7.

Prince George was born on July 22 of the same year, which meant that the Duchess of Cambridge was unable to attend because she was too heavily pregnant with her first child.

2014

The Duchess of Cambridge attended Wimbledon again in 2014 with husband Prince William.

This time she wore a Zimmerman “Roamer” eyelet dress that she had previously worn during the royal couple’s Australian tour.

She also attended the gentlemen’s finals in 2014 between Novak Djokovic and Roger Federer, during which she wore a blue and green dress called the Evelyn dress by Jonathan Saunders.

2015

In 2015, Kate Middleton attended just a few weeks after Princess Charlotte was born on May 2.

She showed off her svelte post-baby figure in a red LK Bennett dress for the event.

The Cayla midi frock was modest enough for the royal box, but the vivid colour still ensured that the Duchess stood out.

She also added a leopard print Diane von Furstenberg clutch to her outfit

2016

In 2016, Catherine attended the tournament twice.

On her first trip she wore a yellow dress from Roksanda, which she had previously worn during the royal tour of Australia.

Prince William reportedly dubbed it “the banana dress” and the Duchess teamed it with LK Bennett Fern courts in trench and a white tote bag from Victoria Beckham.

On her second visit to Wimbledon, when Andy Murray won the Men’s Singles Final, the Duchess of Cambridge wore an elegant jewel print dress by Alexander McQueen.

2017

For opening day of the 2017 Wimbledon tournament, Kate wore a midi-length polka dot dress from Dolce & Gabbana.

She also added a white tote from Victoria Beckham, black sandals from Office and a pair of Oscar de la Renta gold and pearl earrings to complete her retro-inspired look.

During the men’s final event, the Duchess of Cambridge wore a white cap-sleeved Catherine Walker dress featuring a poppy flower print on the skirt.

2018

Last year, new sisters-in-law Catherine and Meghan Markle watched Wimbledon together.

The Duchess of Cambridge wore a pretty polka-dot Jenny Packham dress to the first day of the tennis tournament where she sat with Meghan Marke to watch the Duchess of Sussex’s close friend Serena Williams play.

On the next day she attended, Kate Middleton wore a Dolce & Gabbana yellow dress, which bore a striking resemblance to a dress that Meghan had recently worn to a recent royal engagement.

2019

The Duchess of Cambridge amazed royal fans today when she arrived at Wimbledon wearing a crisp white Suzannah dress which had contrasting black detail at the buttons.

She added a very chic black statement belt, simple black pumps and pushed her long hair back with a pair of chic sunglasses.
