Kate, Duchess of Cambridge, 39, and Prince William, 38, have been keeping up with royal duty by taking part in Zoom calls from their living room at Anmer Hall during lockdown. Prince Harry, 36, has also been honouring his ties to charities by speaking out from his home in Santa Barbara, USA.

On Wednesday evening both the Cambridges and Prince Harry sent separate messages of support to the NHS.

While Kate and William spoke to student nurses in Ulster, Harry issued a statement

Kensington Palace shared four posts about Kate and William’s latest virtual engagement on Twitter.

The first tweet was accompanied by a clip of William and Kate speaking to trainee nurse Abigail and read: “For nursing students, studying and undertaking placements during the pandemic has been a challenge like no other.”

The tweet added: “The Duke and Duchess spoke with @UlsterUni nursing student Abigail about her experiences of working on the frontline of the #COVID19 response in Northern Ireland.”

The second tweet helped illustrate the day in a life of a trainee nurse and read: “A day in the life of a typical shift for Abigail during her first placement as a student nurse Woman health worker

“Thank you to student nurses for their incredible work supporting the frontline workforce.”

A third tweet showed William and Kate quizzing trainees about how they had found doing their practical placements during the pandemic and read: “The Duke and Duchess joined @UlsterUni students taking part in practical clinical sessions at the university with their lecturers.

“Both cohorts undertook placements during the first wave of the pandemic, with many extending their placements to support the frontline workforce.”

A fourth and final tweet read: “During the call, the students discussed their appreciation for the invaluable experiences they have gained working on the frontline and the support they received from @UlsterUni during this challenging period.”

Fans were quick to praise the Cambridges on social media with one claiming their latest engagement was “classy and genuine.”

One Twitter user gushed: “Thank you so much for giving student nurses a platform, being a student nurse is daunting enough but imagine your first placement being during a pandemic and on the front line. Kudos to all you young nurses out there.”

Another wrote: “This profession is so important!! Thank you for supporting nurses, Your Royal Highnesses! And to all of them too for everything they do.”

A third chimed in: “You all are setting such a perfect example for your children to follow.

“I’m not sure there could have been a more perfect union bc you all balance each other out so well. All thank you to nurses and drs everywhere!!”

Another fan said: “Pure class!! Thank you, Prince William and Duchess Kate, for always being genuine and classy!! I am an American and I adore you both!!!”

Meanwhile, Prince Harry also did his bit to thank NHS workers by reaching out with a new statement on Twitter.

While Harry has been based in the USA since stepping down as a senior royal last March he is still very much involved in his Invictus Games tournament which has had to be rescheduled twice due to the pandemic.

Earlier this month Harry had the painful task of announcing the Invictus Games had once again been postponed and is now due to take place in Spring 2022.

Harry’s latest message to frontline workers tied in with his Invictus Games Foundation that helps injured veterans find recovery through sport.

The Duke of Sussex’s message was to announce the Invictus Games partnership with NHS England to support healthcare workers.

The Invictus Games Foundation tweet read: “We’ve partnered with @NHSEngland to support healthcare workers on lessons learned from #Invictus on the importance of looking after your physical, mental & social wellbeing! New podcasts coming soon, with the first one out tomorrow ft.”

Prince Harry’s statement read: “For a year now, NHS workers have been engaged in a new kind of battle.

“They have consistently set-aside their own physical and emotional health in the service of others.

“This service and sacrifice resonates deeply with so many in the Armed Forces community. With this ongoing project, we know that the NHS and Invictus communities will learn from each other, support each other, and lead conversations that everyone can draw from.

“It is from these shared experiences I hope people can find strength, compassion, and understanding, and the inspiration they need for their own recovery and resilience.”

Harry was also praised for the important message as fans rushed to show their support.

One Twitter user wrote: “So great to see different communities reach out to share their experiences and help. “Thank you! After the pandemic is gone, many frontline workers will have a long road ahead coping with the consequences of what they have been experiencing.”

Another put: “Well done and thank you for supporting NHS workers. They’ll need longterm support to help cope with the ongoing mental stress and anxiety they face particularly those who had dealt with unprecedented numbers of patient deaths.”
