Vanity Fair revealed all of the Cambridges, including their three children, have spent time at Balmoral. They have also been able to see Prince Charles and Camilla, as they have been staying at Birkhall, the property the Queen mother gave to Charles when she died in 2002.
This is the first summer the Queen has spent at Balmoral without her husband Prince Philip.
A source told Vanity Fair: “William, Kate, and the children have been enjoying some family time in Scotland and they have just spent some special time with the Queen.
“They always enjoy going up to Balmoral, they love the outdoors and walking in the hills and spending quality time with family.
“It’s where William spent a lot of his childhood and it’s important to him that his children experience what he did as a young boy.”

Previously reflecting on his time in Scotland, Prince William’s opening address at the General Assembly of the Church of Scotland in May, touched on his ‘happiest’ and ‘saddest’ memories.
He said: “Scotland is a source of some of my happiest memories but also my saddest.
“I was in Balmoral when I was told that my mother had died. Still in shock, I found sanctuary in the service at Crathie Kirk that very morning and in the dark days of grief that followed I found comfort and solace in the Scottish outdoors.
“Alongside this painful memory is one of great joy because it was here in Scotland 20 years ago this year that I first met Catherine.”
According to reports from last year, the Cambridges also spent the last week of the school holidays in August 2020 with the Queen and the Duke of Edinburgh.
Balmoral has been one of the residences of the Royal Family since 1852.
The Queen has been in Scotland since July 23 as part of her annual trip to the residence.
This follows as Prince William and Kate Middleton are reportedly looking for properties in Windsor to move closer to the monarch.

A source told the Mail on Sunday: “Anmer Hall made sense while William was a helicopter pilot in East Anglia and it was useful for Christmases at Sandringham, but it doesn’t really work anymore.
“It’s a little too far away for weekends, but Windsor is a perfect compromise.
“They are eyeing up options in the area.”
