Recently, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge took their three children for a pub lunch in Norfolk where they were described as looking like “any other family”. Prince William and Kate, Duchess of Cambridge, alongside eight-year-old Prince George, six-year-old Princess Charlotte and three-year-old Prince Louis were seen tucking into traditional pub food at a wooden picnic table outside.

The future king, and his wife, both 39, were seen tucking into burgers and chips in the Norfolk pub garden, where they were joined by their pet, a black spaniel.

The Cambridges opted for more casual attire for the outing, rather than their usual royal formal wear.

Prince George was witnessed looking casual and relaxed in a t-shirt and shorts, compared to his tie and blazer get-up when on public engagements.

A fellow pub-goer who spotted the royals told The Sun: “There was no security around, just them chilling like any other family.”

However, a royal expert has claimed the family would have been joined by security for the outing, but they would have been discreet.

Royal author Katie Nicholl told OK!: “There will have been a security detail with Kate and William and the children on their recent pub lunch outing but it would have been discreet.

“A plain-clothed and unidentifiable security guard who was positioned at another table. They would have blended in with the rest of the pub.”

The family were described to be “laughing” while eating outside, with a witness also describing “one particularly touching moment where one of the children got upset because their food was too hot.”

Ms Nicholl claims that the couple regularly enjoy outings to the pubs with the children or for a date night.

She says that the royal duo tend to choose places they will visit carefully, usually opting for ones where they are known to the owners and locals so they can relax.

She added: “You don’t often see people get out their camera phones and record them. They are left to just get on with a family occasion.

“Norfolk is one of the few places they can just enjoy ordinary, everyday experiences as a family. William and Kate often go out on date nights and you don’t hear about it.”

The weekend outing may have provided a well needed bout of respite following the Duke and Duchess’ recent public engagements.

Last week, Kate visited the Lake District, where she had a go at abseiling and mountain biking with young air cadets.

She was also seen joining tennis star Emma Raducanu, following her win at the US Open, on the court for a doubles match.

Elsewhere, her husband and future monarch William visited Dulwich Hamlet Football Club to hear about the future of the game, appeared in a documentary honouring his late grandfather Prince Philip and revealed the finalists in his Earthshot Prize project.

The Prince has also penned an article with former New York mayor Michael Bloomberg in response to climate change which was published by USA Today.

The pair discussed the severity of climate change, and penned a cry for solutions to “save the earth”.
