Kate Middleton has ‘hands on’ parenting approach says expert
The Duchess has spoken out throughout the year about how she, Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis have gotten stuck in with cooking. But Kate spoke last year about how she and the Cambridge royal children cook together to make a comforting bowl of macaroni and cheese.
Kate spoke to Matthew Kleiner-Mann, chief executive of the Ivy Learning Trust about her family’s love of cooking.
The Duchess told Mr Kleiner-Mann about the royals love for cooking during a visit to Lavender Primary School.
He said: “She was telling us how much her children love cooking and how they cook for her.
“They made cheesy pasta the other day. One stirs the flour, one puts the milk and butter in. And they make salads and stuff.”

Prince William and Prince Harry were brought up on macaroni and cheese, according to Chef Darren McGrady.
Speaking on his YouTube channel, Princess Diana’s former chef said the young royals would eat the pasta dish with roast chicken and a side of broccoli.
Mr McGrady also recalled how Harry and William’s nanny would tell him to make sure they eat their greens.
He added about the veg: “The boys, I guess like any boys, weren’t huge fans of broccoli, but what she said was ‘When you do the broccoli – I want you to have one piece of broccoli with each piece of chicken’.”
The Duchess also explained how Charlotte and George love to get ‘their hands messy” while making homemade pizza.
Kate, while making food for a Commonwealth Big Lunch at St Luke’s Community Centre in 2018, explained her children like making their own pizza bases.
She said: “I’ve done that with George and Charlotte—making pizza dough.
“They love it because they can get their hands messy.”

George, Charlotte and Louis had been “attacking the kitchen” at Anmer Hall during the coronavirus lockdown in spring, according to ITV’s Royal Rota.
Producer Lizzie Smith, talking about the Cambridge’s lockdown experience, said: “Prince William joked he has also been doing some baking in the kitchen.
“It’s not just Kate in the kitchen, he’s been in there too.
“He said the children have been making a spectacular mess.”
William also spoke about how messy the Cambridge children can be when cooking, during a visit to Smiths the Bakers in King’s Lynn’s High Street.
Paul Brandon, who runs the business, said William and the children have been doing baking throughout lockdown with messy results.
According to Mr Brandon William commented: “I’ve done a little bit of baking. The children have been attacking the kitchen and it’s just been an explosion of flour and chocolate everywhere.
“Catherine’s been doing quite a bit of baking.”
