Kate in STITCHES after William’s awkward blunder during Meghan Markle baby exchange

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex welcomed their newborn son into the world on bank holiday Monday much to the delight of royal fans across the globe. Baby Sussex, as the child is being dubbed until he is named, was delivered at 5.26am BST on May 6, weighing 7lbs 3oz (3.2kg). Meghan bucked tradition and did not pose for photos with the royal tot immediately after giving birth as Diana, Princess Wales and Catherine, the Duchess of Cambridge did before her.

Instead, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex announced plans to keep details of the birth private.

The privacy was ramped up to such an extent even senior members of the Royal Family were said to be unaware of Meghan’s hospital dash which left her hopes for a home birth in tatters.

Meghan Markle, who was over a week overdue, gave birth to a healthy boy as Prince Harry told reporters on Monday.

Following the happy news the Duchess of Cambridge was forced to set her husband Prince William straight after he accidentally called her an “uncle” on Tuesday as the couple were quizzed by the media.

Ahead of the King’s Cup annual Regatta at the Cutty Sark in London the newly-minted royal aunt and uncle were asked by the press about their thoughts on Meghan and Harry’s new baby.

The Duke of Cambridge said: “Yes absolutely, I’m an uncle, second time for me”.

The future King then pointed at his wife and said: “And you as well.”

Prince William quickly laughed off and corrected his mistake as Kate burst into laughter in front of the assembled media throng.

The proud uncle went on to say he was “absolutely thrilled” for the Duke and Duchess of Sussex following the birth of their son yesterday.

He then told well-wishers he is “looking forward” to meeting his nephew “in the next few days” once “things have quietened down”.

He added jokingly: “I’m very pleased and glad to welcome my own brother into the sleep deprivation society that is parenting.”

Kate continued: “It’s such a great time of year to have a baby, spring is in the air.

“As William said, we’re looking forward to meeting him and finding out what his name’s going to be so so it’s really exciting for both of them and we wish them all the best.”

Speaking as a mother of three, Kate added: “These next few weeks are always a bit daunting the first time around so we wish them all the best.”
